im a newbie to the motorcycle world, I own a 95, 750 kat and being that this is the first bike ive riden i enjoy the way the bike accelerates and handles. But ive recently had a trade offer for a 93 ninja 600. the owner of the bike says he needs a larger bike because of his size and wants to trade for my 750 kat, he's tryin to sell me on the fact that a 600 sport bike is faster than my 750 kat....would anyone make this trade? is that true 600 sport bikes are faster then 750 kats please help me out with this dilema!

If it was a GSXR I would be all over it myself, But I am not a big fan of the Ninjas myself. But that is just my thoughts.

If you are happy with your bike why trade unless you are getting something substantive with a change. Although modern 600 SS bikes are faster and more nimble, in terms of quarter mile speed they're only 10% faster than your 750. For that extra 10% you give up comfort, some reliability and riding stability. In other words, improved track performance over everyday riding. If you want track worthiness then get the Ninja. However, the Katana really shines in terms of practicality so learn to appreciate it for what it is.

Ask yourself these questions:
If the Ninja is the more-desirable bike, why does he want to trade for yours?
Does the Kat do everything you want & are you happy with it?
What possible mechanical or frame damages does the Ninja have that your Kat doesn't (or visa-versa)?
What's the difference in used values (check nbb.com and nada.com)?
How well does each bike age by comparison? Kats are generally far more bullet-proof in my experience, with lower maintenance costs and longer life-expectancies.
What's the mileage differences between them.
Is this guy actually a close friend, or just someone who you met?
Are you sure that his title is free & clear? Is it possible that there is a mechanics lien or other debt associated with it?
If he's a close friend, you could trade bikes for an afternoon of riding and then make your call... but personally, I'd be really suspicious of anyone who is trying to talk me into trading my bike for theirs when I'm not already trying to sell it... unless they can show really valid reasons -- in which case, they could do what most people do and sell theirs, then go buy another like mine.
