    once you do the valves yourself you wont ever want the shop to set them again. its just really easy. get a set of tools take your time do it right and you still would have saved 200$ and weeks of time.

      I agree doing it yourself is the best route. I have never done allot of work on bikes but I have allot of experience with cars, I recently did almost the same services on my 04' kat and my 01' r6. I saved myself allot of money since all it cost me was some of my time (if you find someone to borrow a sync tool from or make one yourself). I will admit I was a little worried about screwing something up but turns out it really was quite simple. I say next time break out the service manual and go at it.
      - 04' Kat 600 (my reliable bike)
      - 01' R6 (my fun bike)
      - 00' Cavalier (my POS daily driver)

        I hate dealers they will rape you. (our local suzuki dealer charges $60. an hour). I 'm lucky I take mine to a little shop, that can trusted. And they only charge $35. an hour.

            I haven't taken my bike to a shop in a long time, but I've heard they will do the 3 weeks or more thing around here.

              I'm all for doing your own work. Not only do you have the cost benefit savings and time on the road but you also have an intimate working knowledge of your bike which definately makes for a better feeling ride. It may only be a mental thing but it's a mental thing you didn't pay $500 for. Just my $.02

                And if you break down on the side of the road, you'll know how to fix/rig it to not have to call for a tow.

                    ya definatly! i always try to fix er my self, not only do you gain knowledge of the bike yourself but you will be proud of you bike AND fell safer on the road!

                    ya its sounds like an OK deal,try to tinker around with your bike and learn about the bike yourself,its a hell of a lot cheaper AND itll help ya in the longrun!

                      I would have quoted near every post in here but i don't got the time.

                      I figure I can buy the parts and the tools i need to do the job and always do it for AT LEAST 50% of what any "stealership" (lolololololol) or local guy would charge. Unless its your bro, and all my bro's dont know bout moto.

                      I'll add that all the dealerships around here charge $95.99/hr but the guy I take my stuff to is $65/hr and thats like considered REALLY cheap around here. Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada
