Is the 88-97 katana 600f motor the same as the 2000 katana 600f?

Like the title says I'm trying to figure out if my girlfriend's bike she just bought for herself has the same motor as the older style katana 600's. The head gasket is leaking oil and I need to buy a gasket rebuild kit but all I can find is full rebuild kits for the 88-97 600's. TIA

Basically, one is silver (98-06) and one is black (88-97). There are a billion minor difference, but in the grand scheme of things, it's the same.

You could also try re-torquing the head instead of going right into a head gasket replacement.
