  • 2001 GSXF Katana from Mexico City - Respray??

Hi Guys, long time lurker here.

Just got for second bike a 2001 yellow katana

Its really cool, but neglected a bit by its last owner, for example it has a 180/55 rear tire

Im thinking of changing the paint sheme, i wonder what are your opinions on it, and what is the favorite-most-fitting colour on Kats, its got a lot of dents on the tank and the right fenders, also has some stripes made of vinyl carbon fiber crap.

Thanks for teaching me so much about it

    Cheers

          restoration begins !

Thanks to you all your replies, appreciate !

I just begun restoration for the yellow kat, im going with Space Black and decals like the 2006 edition

During dismanteling i found out that the bike has some leds installed here and there, i will remove them of course they look tacky, it also came with HIDs on both low and high beams, but the low is not turning on, ill check what is going on, hopefully its just the bulb.

This is the scheme im hoping to get something alike:

Wife asked me if it was worth painting, if im keeping it for a while, and from what ive seen on the market there is nothing like the Katana, the GSXF650 may be cool but i prefer the inline engines.

My plan is to improve riding on it for a couple of years and then see what comes up in the market by then or just jump to the Hayabusa.

Thanks in advance for reading, ill keep you guys posted.

Not very with the wheel already off. Hardest part is figuring how to spot the bike while it's off. There's a couple bolts to the shock and a couple to the frame. If you're going to have it off, it would be a good idea to grease the bearings in the swing arm and the shock pivot points
