  • Just buying in ...

I'm just buying into the club I put a down payment on a blue 98 kat 600 today. I've had a bunch of bikes but this is my first Suzuki and definitely my first Kat. Any known problems that I should watch out for?

Welcome aboard brainchill! The Katana is, in my limited experience mind you, a great machine. It's peppy enough to get you where you're going with speed, but comfortable enough as to not give you serious cheek-cramp.

One thing to watch out for, and this really isn't a "problem" per say, is the weight of the bike. It can catch you by surprise and really start tipping if you're walking the bike back and not paying attention to what it is you're doing... ask me how I know this.

                Cool ...

I am currently riding a 1994 Yamaha FZR600. It's very fast and very fun but not ANY good for any kind of long term trips because it's tuned to hot .... If I ride more than an hour or so I can't move my hands because they are numb from the constant high frequency vibration. I took the Katana for a test ride and it appears to be a lot more touring friendly than the other beast. (I hope it turns out to be real I pick it up on Friday)

You'll be pleased with the ridability of the Katana. We do 300-400 mile trips on the weekends here and all of us on Katanas are just fine at the end of the day.
