  • 14mm Drill Bit -- where do I get one?

I need a 14mm drill bit for a project I'm working on, and am running into issues finding any metric-sized drill bits... Any suggestions on where to look?

    Cheers,

Actually, the info I found on their site said they still weren't selling to the public...

Do you have a vender's license or a LLC, then you can buy from them.

The local ace hardware here has all drill bits or can get them. They have mm, inch, and index drill bits.

The McMasterCarr catalog used to be so thick that is was nearly a cube...

Cyber You could have used 35/64 (13.89mm)
It is pretty rare that machine shops use metric drills..
If you are going to "drill" a hole, as opposed to reaming it
1/64 is close enough. It is close enough for most tapping operations
16mm X 2 for example.. (once out of the number/letter drill sizes)

A good set of number, letter and fractional drills is as far as 98% of machinests will need to go.

McMaster-Carr has almost anything you could need. Them or MSC. Used both of them extensively when doing industrial maintenance.

I already ordered it from Grainger on the third post, but I may end up needing more in the future... Grainger had one in their distribution warehouse in NC, which combined with free shipping to their pick-up desk at their local branch made it cost effective.

I probably could have gone 35/64ths and did think about that... It was the fall-back plan if I didn't find what I was looking for. In retrospect, McMaster-Carr has a far better assortment than grainger in this realm (my choice of single or triple fluted, multiple materials, carbide tip, etc), although they are quite expensive on some of the nicer ones that I was tempted on ($219 for a carbide-tipped straight-flute which would have been ideal -- what I ended up getting was under 1/10th of that price).

As for Ace Hardware, nothing there -- tried them, Bosch and several other local suppliers before I popped on KR to ask where to look.

By the way everyone, I really appreciated the help!

                      Cheers

I know you've already ordered but maybe a 9/16" could work. A 14mm drill measures out to .5512" and 9/16" is equal to .5625"
                            FYI
