  • Neutral Safety

Hi all! Newb here but not a newb rider. Own two other Suzukis. Working on a '99 600 Kat for a friend. Had to pull the carbs off to clean. Should be back together tomorrow. Have what I think is a neutral safety problem. Bike has no neutral light. All other lights including blinkers work fine. Bike will only crank with kickstand in up position. Starter will not engage if kickstand is down. Matter of fact I'm pretty sure if it is running putting the kickstand down will kill the ignition. This is weird. I know the kickstand down will kill it if in gear but it's definitely in neutral even though there is no light. Any ideas?

the neutral safety switch does the light as well as interlocked with the side stand
So even if it is physically in neutral the over rides are saying its in gear
Check the connector, if it looks good I would change out the switch
