  • saddle bags under or over seat

What's the consensus on how to mount soft saddle bags? Under the seat or over top of the seat?
    Thanks

under, the seat will help keep them in place at highway speeds.

Yep under the seat, that way your passenger isnt sitting on connecting piece that would go over your seat either.

If I have a passenger I go under the seat. If not, I go over so that I have more room between the exhaust and the bags. Haven't had any problems with them moving, no matter what spped i'm at. Oh...Nelson Rigg Sphere bags is what i've got.

Do you just drape the bags over the seat? Is there anything securly keeping them in place?

Mine go over the seat. I have two straps with buckles for each bag. On strap loops around the pasenger peg and the other goes to the license plate frame. It's a pretty good setup, and they work pretty well for $14.00 bags

I'll take a pic of them when I get home. They are the princess auto bags. I know a few of us Canucks are using them.

My Nelson Rigg bags have straps that hook under the tail as well as to the passenger foot brace.

I've done both . Fat straps over , thin buckle/straps under , and vice-versa . I like it best with the fat straps on top , so they sit higher . Less chance of them hitting the pipe . And no problems with a passenger , either .

Crunchie used to always complain of getting marks on her butt from the big strap when it's on top..

                      uumm yeah, nevermind

                            'locked' is a relative term.

My bags are made of Nylon, so if someone really wants them they'd just need a good knife. Security isn't a huge deal with nylon bags. If you need security, spend the extra money for hard bags.
