There is like 5 pages of this "sync #-# first then do.... " joke on another thread...
1-2, 3-4, either pod of each set for final sync... doesn't matter the order long as you sync the pairs seperately first, then sync each pair together last.

I just used the fuel tank with a length of hose attached and left the tank on prime.

I found ATF, at least the brand I ran, to take too long to settle down again in the tubes the first time I made one of these. The second time, I used 2 cycle oil and it settled much faster.
The buddy system works really well if your carbs are really out of whack. Have one guy ready on the hoses with needle nose pliers (in case the imbalance is extreme and the fluid wants to head to your engine) and the other guy start/maintain rpm on the bike/adjust as necessary.
I've used a yogurt container for an alternative fuel tank. Easy to top up, easy to tap/seal. With a little bit of epoxy around the fuel barbs, it was leak-proof and ready to go.

It isn't difficult... just time consuming. You have to remove all the plastics and gas tank to do the maintenance. ya may as well adjust the valves while everything is pulled apart.
I removed the rubber caps and replaced them with length of rubber hose so I didn't have to remove the carbs each time I wanted to sync the carbs.
Next spring I plan to adjust the a/f screws as recommended by others on this forum and re-sync the carbs.

Carb #3 is not a reference carb either.
You sync carb #1 to carb #2 by adjusting the screw between the two. You than sync carb #3 to carb #4 by adjusting the screw between the two. Then sync set 1 & 2 to set 3 & 4 using the center screw. Make sense?Last edited by arsenic; 01-18-2013, 08:19 PM.
