Speedo/tach from wrong year?

Hello,

I have an '82 GS550MZ with a broken cluster. Anyone have thoughts on whether this will work of not?

Or is there a generic cluster I can fit to it till I find a good original?

Does it LOOK the same as yours? If it does, I would say yes. Depending on whats broken on yours, you could take the speedos and tach out of the new and mount to your cluster if they aren't identical.

Its the same basic size and shape, though the lay out is different. Mine has one blinking light for turn signals, this has two. Fuel gauge is in different location, etc.

I was also thinking about the gutting it out option

Is this yours? If so it definitely is different but I know the tach should be the same and speedo if you separate them from each cluster. I had a gs550l and if I remember right it has the gear indicator on that panel. I do see the differences now, what's wrong with your original tach?

Yes, mine does have the gear indicator on top...

After some research, they appear to have used the same cluster in the 82 GS850L and the '83 GS1100GL.

If anyone sees one of these shake loose, let me know.
