Ok, so I got bored today and started cleaning the front Forks... a couple of scratches on it were driving me nuts so I decided to polish them. When I decide to powder coat the rims next year, I will take them down to my friends house and use his polisher to really make it shine... Here are some pics....

Not really worried about the top by the triples as they will be hidden in the plastic, until I tear her down again..

Here are two with the fender installed...

Well, next stage will be the actual swap... keeping my fingers crossed....

Very nice! Don't forget to put some clearcoat on them to prevent oxidation and pitting. Check out Scottynoface's rims for how far wrong that can go.

            Oh sure, blame me!

I'm still really happy with my mod. The bike handles so much better with the 17" rims that it's like a whole new bike. I'm still dorking around with the brakes, though. I ordered up new brake lines from G&J but screwed up the order and got the wrong fittings on the front, lower lines. I should have the adapters in the mail tomorrow. If things aren't fixed with the new lines and a thorough bleeding then I may be looking at replacing or rebuilding the MCs. (I went with 750 Kat calipers if you recall. I've got to look and see if they're the same diameter as the 1100 MCs.) I'm still getting a lot more lever travel than I like.

The ones I got are 95 gsxr, not sure if you had the same ones.. I am going from the two massive counter opposed stock calipers to six piston ones. Worse case, I will change the MC to a gsxr one...

I am keeping my original set up for the rear. Just have to fab the spaces and an adapter braket. I plan on putting the caliper bracket from the gsxr and cut it so I can add the adapter for the height and offset of the gsxr rear rotor...

And yeah, it is all your fault...lol even though I did not get the swepped wheels like you have... I actually like those better, but these will do...

I'm not sure how the hub width on the '95 GSXR wheels compares to the ones I've got but building the spacers from washers really worked well. I'd just suggest turning the axle nut a half turn or so after it touches before you spot weld the washers. I realized after I'd already built my spacers that the stock setup leaves a little bit of slop in the swingarm for getting those spacers in there.

You'll probably have better brakes than I've got. I may have to go to something like that eventually. Just not right now. It's riding season!

Ok, so I took her out for a good ride last night, and an hour after i parked her in the garage, the whole place stunk of fuel... Got a leaking down carb again...

That and the fact that I wasn't going to inspect her until after the change made me go ahead and tear her down...

                  Here she is getting ready...lol

Yeah... I got a monowheel... always wanted one...lol

Not my prettiest work, but it'll do. Still have to tweak a little... Cut the steer stops and tapped one on. Need to add to it though as the triple tree hits the windshield motor crossbar before the bolt hits the stops on the neck...

Looks like my measuments were good... I already knew that the bearings were the same and that the stem length appeared to be the same as well.. No problems there... Here is the fork mounted...

First snag though, The original ignition switch does not match. I did not take into account the fact that the ignition switch on the GSXR sits much closer to the stem. Oh well, got one on order with a few odds and ends...

Not sure if I should continue putting the fender and rim on tonight as I might have to remove the fork before it all goes completely together...

Gopt the brake lines and ignition switch coming before the weekend, I guess I'll play with her then...

Update... swap is almost complete, for the front end anyway... here are the after pics. Just waiting for the breaklines and a couple of brackets to attach them to the fender....

Here are the pics for front end...

and here are the ones for the risers... still have nto made the covers for the tubes...

Maybe I will tear down the rear tomorrow and start that swap...

That looks terrific! Sure wish I had a powder coat setup.

What are you doing about the ignition switch?

Hell with the powder coat.... thats all rattle can...lol

I like to do mock-ups... and if they work, leave them for a while and find the bugs later, or a different color... The front forks will be redone next winter, the triple will be powder coated then. And all my polished parts will be retouched...

As for the ignition swith, I am waiting for one I ordered for a gsxr. The lock will probably not line up. Missed my measurements there, but when I break her down, I will move the lock plate to a proper position...

I have to still fab the rear break bracket and see what kind of spacers I will need. The rear will probably be coming off tomorrow....

Can't wait to finish it and ride it. Need to see if the front fender will hit the fairing or not under heavy breaking. She sits much lower right now...

Thanks, with a few minor exceptions, the ign, the steer stop, and the risers, she bolted right up...

Awesome man.I,ll be following this thread with interest.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
