  • Hi all ! I'm new here and to street bikes.

I just purchased my first street bike a month ago. Its a 91 gsx600fm katana with 17,000 on It. Since buying it off craigslist I've learned a lot. Any info you guys have on my bike and tips would be very helpful.

Howdy, and welcome! Make sure you check out that FAQ and how to's, theres some awesome information on upkeep, maintenance, repairs, conversions, swaps, etc.

Just make sure you respect that throttle. I started on a 600, but some people are uncomfortable. Remember its all about having fun, so stay in your comfort zone

Lots more stuff to learn, just ask 98junker about pod filters

Everyone's pretty friendly around here, and the stickies are chock full of good information.

Welcome to KR. If by first street bike, you mean you're coming from dirt, then keep in mind that with the street bike, most braking is done with the front brake, unless you're on gravel or something like that. Remember that other traffic is the most dangerous part.

Enjoy the bike, and welcome again!
