  • engine cases question

are katana and gsxr cases and lower assembly basically the same as the gsxr? I am wondering if I can merely swap the cylinders, pistons and head to achieve the 1127 that I am looking for?

I know you can do it with the GSXR a have the 7/11 conversion.....how about the kat motor?

I'd think that if it was possible, there would be information here about doing it.

My guess is that it's just cheaper to get the entire 1127 motor.

if you find one of these "cheap" 1127's or b12's....point them out to me..

block, head, and pistons should run ball park $300.

gaskets etc at best another $200.....

and then you have motor you have an idea of its history.

The 600 & 750 bottom ends are the same, and i verified it with Ron Ayers parts fiche. Since none of the 1127 motors also come up in the same search, I'll have to assume it's not a direct match....

So yes... your costs plus several hundred dollars of custom machining too. Anything is possible with enough time and money.

I've seen several complete & early B12's on craigslist for around 2k. Buy one of those, keep the motor, and part the rest.
