if you remove the oil cooler lines and use a small oil wrench you will have no trouble.

num1husker, just remember if you go this route more often, replace the crush washers on the oil lines when you do it.

synthetic / wow
Ok as per cyberpoets suggestion I did an oil change and went with the oil he recommended Mobil 1 V-Twin (20w50).
There are several of things I have noticed after the change out.
1. The biggest change was that I am about 500 rpm lower at the same speeds before I swapped out oils.
2. Much less vibration coming up through the bars and seat.
3. Very smooth shifting no more clunking / clinking when downshifting and the upshifts are much more silky.
4. It also seems to rev up faster at the higher rpms.
5. I seem to be lugging the bike more because the rev's are lowing then what I am used to.
Now was the change out worth it ? Without a doubt it is.
Thanks poet and all the rest who posted for the help.
I was a little concerned about using synthetic because in the day's of this bikes younger years synthetic was not a good option but with today's technology it seems that even an old bike can reap good rewards with advances like this.
