Hi everybody! Like the title says, I'm not new here, but this is my first post. Also, I'm not a new rider but this is my first "sporty" bike.
First bike was a 1982 Suzuki GS450L upon which I learned to ride shortly after high school.
After about a year and a half I got super lucky and won a 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic. (slightly bigger bike ) Rode that for the next 3 years or so, but cash flow problems "made" me sell it. (kids)
Fast forward to early summer this year - friend of a friend had bought a new bike and was willing to part with the old for a very agreeable price.
And now it's mine.
It's a well used 1991 Katana 600, Stock except for a 4 into 1 with a Vance & Hines slip-on and K&N pod filter (which needs to go, from what I've read) and almost new tires. 25k on the odo, reads ~28k now. Didn't do much other than an oil change and new battery since I didn't want to lose any riding time. No mirrors or working turn signals. I had the signals working, but they stopped so I just used my hands. The carbs were dirty so a quick clean to get it ride-able but it's not perfect. (idle/low RPM issues)
Joined here to glean information about my new toy and have been soaking it up ever since.
Now that the season has ended the repairs can begin. Brakes, chain/sprockets, full carb rebuild & sync, lighting upgrades, missing parts, bodywork/paint, etc.
This is the day I bought it.
I added lights during a couple rainy days a couple weeks later. The LED's are parts from other vehicles, a combination of the red arrows from Suburban/Tahoe mirrors, side marker lights from early 2000's BMW's and tractor trailer tail-lights.
