This kinda goes along with another thread in here..but in effort to get as many handy resources as we can for new riders. I'll ask this too.

Whats the most common mistake new riders make while out on the road.

yeah, thats definately a big one! and another one..

It's too hot or too much work to wear gear, I'm just riding down to the store, or out for alittle ride, it'll be ok THIS time.

Yup, that's gotta be #1. And it's all too easy on bikes
where a 1/4 turn on the throttle sends you into warp speed.
You can read all the books ever printed on the subject, but you
still have to hone your skills. Like anything else, riding skills take
time and practice, practice, practice.

Not understanding how much more braking distance you need than if you were in a cage

Braking in a corner. I still roll off the throttle when I get panicked when cornering which is also wrong.
