  • Katana 600F calipers upgrade??

    Hello. Im restoring a GS 550 1986.
I have on the front end of a GSX600f 1994, so a Kat.

Can I fit the front calipers of a GSXR?
...or how to fit bigger ones...?

The rotor is 290mm and distance between the bolts of the calipers, 88mm.

    Thanks very much!!
(I will post photo if I knew how..)

Calipers off a 2001-2002 GSXR 1000 will fit but they need an adapter bracket (sold separately @ www.svracingparts.com, Blair i believe). You will also have to use a 4-5mm spacer to get the caliper aligned with the rotor.

I kept the caliper bolted to the adapter with it's spacer all the time, and when the brakes need to come off (ie tire change) then i just unbolt it from the shock just as normal.

This is my set up in the pictures below. Works amazing!!!

    Cheers, happy riding!!

WOW, I bet you don't pull any wheelies with that extended swing arm! The front brake looks awesome, good work.

A KAT would have a very hard time doing a wheelie with a short one.

I was being facetious, I know how heavy mine is. Its amazing how that all that weight goes away the instant you start rolling.

Lol I am actually running a 2001 bandit 1200 motor. It did wheelie when I raced it. Now I have turbo'd it and made a swingarm to fit a busa rear setup. Just had it for a run today....feels so good! Lol
