Thanks Firekit.... Except My bike is pretty much totaled now. I got into an accident last week. 9/15/2015

        Heres the Thread...
        Hit and Run Accident 9/15/15

As it Stands right now, I think im going to rebuild. The plastics are destroyed on the left side, the mirror is gone, the tank, forks, rotors, possibly rim, are all totaled, the left side engine cover is cracked all the way down. I got a gsxr rim/tire/forks for free, I have a spare tank and a spare engine cover. I am going to put it back together, put oil in it, probably adjust the valves, clean the carbs, put a round headlight on it and streetfight it. I plan to attempt to get $1200 for the bike, and ALL the parts including the half tore down 750 motor that I officially dont want to put any more money into. I dont want to get shafted and go without a bike so this winter I will rebuild with little to no investment while saving money for a fuel injected liquid cooled modern sportbike, and when i get close to my mark, sell the kat and move on. I guess that means that there is only a little bit left of this thread before this project comes to a close. Im super glad i didnt end up getting it painted this year like I hoped to.

Here is how it sits right now with all of the visibly broken items removed.

Wow how did I not see that thread!
Thank god you were wearing gear! I hate FL's law that lets people ride with nothing on. Personally I gear up even when its 90+ outside. Yea it sucks but it sucks less than growing new skin.

Well... Still trying to track down a front end that I can frankenstein on to the front end of this bike. Hopefully I will be able to. As time passes, I definitely have my heart set on an 04/05 Gsxr 600 or maybe even a 750. I have begun the saving process. lol But I think i might streetfight the katana and keep it for long rides. If I can afford the gsxr without selling the kat, Ill definitely keep it, and probably keep tinkering with the 750 motor for it. So this thread may not be dead yet. but its definitely taking a new direction. Ill keep you kiddies posted on the process.

Picked up a pre 750 front end yesterday. Wheel, rotors, axle, forks, fender, speedo with cable, a brake line, a fuel gauge and the gauge bracket, the rear fuel tank stay bracket, and a straight handlebar for $200. Black Betty will live again! It'll definitely be a street fighter now. I'm thinking about changing her name to Humpty Dumpty. Lol

Anybody know if my racetech springs and cartridge emulators will fit these forks. I know I'll have to cut new spacers, but my main concern is will the CE's fit these damper rods as from what I read they are a lil different...

Well, ive heard that the 750 forks are different than 600 forks. It must have been post vs pre because they are pretty much identical inside and out. Just finished the damper rod modifications over the weekend. Picked up some fork oil today. Hopefully they will be assembled by the end of the night tonight. If I can get them assembled and in, I can get my bike out of the middle of my garage and finally free up some space. Fingers crossed!

Pre 600 vs 750 are only different by having 11mm longer upper tubes on the 750. Otherwise, identical.

That's the thing. I anticipated having to cut new spacers for the tubes but they fit perfectly.

Since I'm here, a bit of an update. I got the forks back together, but it appears my bottom triple is tweeked. So I'm going to investigate the neck a little deeper then if it seems straight, I'll source a new lower triple and new neck bearings.

Well guys. My betty is no more. I put the rebuilt forks and triple in and the front wheel was pushed wayyyy back. The neck was bent. Soooo... today is bitter sweet. Shes sold. Everything. $500. But it went to a friend and he will be using both motors so at least ill get to see what becomes of her. He may even buy a new frame and rebuild it. Who knows. Either way, its gone. Got my eye on an 06 gsxr 750. Well see what happens. So, that brings this thread to an end. I appreciate all the knowledge and information and stories but this is mostly farewell. I dont know how much oll be on the site. Ill prolly linger for a while. I have dabbled in other forums and you guys are way cooler. Haha so... there it is. It was a good run.

So as mentioned, Sold my totalled Katana to a buddy. Well he dropped by the other day to let me take a peek at the old girl since he put her all back together again. He said hes rocking the zip ties all riding season over the principality of it being a resurrected bike and to pay homage to its previous life. Either way, it was good to see it riding down the road again. even if it is all fucked up and ugly(er)

Looks like that blue car got some damage also.
Looks like either a Neon or an Avenger maybe?

Haha yah it's a neon... It's my commuter. I work 70 miles from home... I let my insurance lap back in November. And of course, after work on my way to the insurance place in my home town I incurred a rear end collision by some asshole not paying attention.. I didn't want my car towed and me fined 50 miles from home so we opted out of making a police report.... That happened 2 months after I totalled my damn bike.... It was a rough couple of months.. Lol
