  • brrrr was it cold this morning!!!

This is my first year riding, and I love it! I started back in the summer and more seasoned riders, here at work, just laugh at me when I ride in less than ideal situations. They said the windy days would shut me down... nope, wasn't bad at all on the Kat. They told me the 50's would shut me down... nope I adjusted. Then the 40's would... nope adjusted there too! Today however was in the mid 30's!!! I was Ok, all but my hands. I will add that the bike is running great and as soon as I get some warm riding gloves, I think I'll be able to handle the 30's... but I may stop there : )

oh and I don't do wet and cold, that was just miserable!
yep, I think I'm finally responsible enough to ride a bike that I don't have to pedal ; )

I ride year round, regardless of weather. Cold and wet do suck the most. For gloves, you can get liners, heated grips, or, what everyone seems to recommend, heated gloves. I haven't had a chance to use any of them. My A* SP2's have gotten me through all of it, but they seem to have developed a nasty smell (still working on how to get that to go away).

Coldest I rode in was 14F, up in VA. It hasn't gotten below 60F here in FL so I am good.

I use muffs when i ride in sub 40's .but looking at getting heatedgrips, seems alot use them now :- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle...item43a5dbf1d1

These also keep the wind chill down so i can use normal gloves

Try baby powder ,the smell is because of getting wet and dry and the sweat from your hands...baby powder will help the smell...

Really? Mine get cold anywhere below 50...I do have horrible circulation and tiny girly hands though...

So far, I have handled the 40's as well. I have leather Sedici gloves and two sets of glove liners. Neither liner does a great job. But, the gloves are...okay, when compared to my textile Icon gloves. I have to find a solution for my hands too.

Balaclava, nike 'underarmor' shirt, another shirt on top, cotton underpants, cold riding pants on top and I'm pretty warm.

My hands get chilly, but it isn't unbearable. My hands have definitely been colder. They most certainly work better than the perforated, wrist length icon gloves I had previous to them

Take a look at the powerlet rapid fire heated glove liners. They use infrared heat instead of wires (no hot spots). They are awesome, thin and very easy to use with current gloves. Powerlet makes quality stuff.

Powerlet reliably connects electrical gadgets to powersport vehicles including motorcycles, ATVs and personal watercraft.

heated grips are the best money you can invest if you plan on riding in the cold IMO
Dont forget your tires will never really warm up so ride accordingly

i live in new hampshire and im also a newbie rider. it got down to 30 degrees and with wind chill it was brutal and of course i tried to be cocky and tough it out with just jeans sweatshirt and bike coat. at the end i couldnt feel my legs or thumbs. ive since bought pants but cant bring myself to buy thicker gloves. but i do love riding in the cooler air. if i could just figure out the problem of my face shield fogging up when i breathe....

Speaking of fogged shields, right now I'm leaving mine a little cracked, but I'm hoping a breath deflector helps but that's on my next prospective helmet.

Have u tried baby powder for the gloves? Put a good amt in there make sure to get it all around let em sit overnight, (I find its better if they sit out in the open somewhere patio garage and so on) and the next morning get all the powder out slap em together a few times and it should work. At least it works for my work boots haha but pretty much the same concept.

would heated grips put to much of a drain on a Kats electrical system?
