  • Alt. Question

I might be buying an 80s Kat... the only problem is that the alt. is out... i was wondering how hard it is to change it.

its not hard at all, just take out the two bolts and slide the old one out, I have an alternator if your interest.

You'll probably have to pull the carbs and airbox first, but yes it's easy to replace.

well, quote me a price, it's good for 88-97, if it's an earlier Katana then that tell me, and I'll see if it will work.

The starter should be the same for all years.

Okay, so what year bike is it?
The early 80's kats are different than the late 80's kats.

Yeah . I swapped mine at the rally last summer because I got bored , remember ? Oh yeah , that's right , I was done in less than 30 minutes , so nobody made it down while I was messing with it .

                          alternator

Well... it is technically not an alternator... it is a generator. I got a used one for mine a couple weeks ago... It was $92 if i recall correctly. I got one from www.cycletherapy.com. they are about 40 minutes away so I went and picked it up to save on shipping. Very easy to install... hardest part was getting the teeth to line up when putting it back in. took a few tries but it went in and worked perfectly.
Flush twice... It's a long way to the kitchen.
