  • Re:front sprocket cover

Hey guys, will a 02 bandit front sprocket cover fit a 88 katana 1100?
    Thanks for your time.

Since this is a "Katana" forum, and no one here except that one guy I told you about has ever done the swap, your best bet is to search Google or a Bandit forum.
But most likely, it probably will.
I guess I should re-phrase that. Find out if all year Bandit 1200 covers are interchangeable.

      Also might depend if it's a 600 or 1200

And what year, the 600 is based off the gsxf 600 engine, the others are based off the GSXR. Except the 650 and 1250. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Bandit_series

Its late and I'm bored, so let me chat just to make certain to clear up my last comment.
What I mean is, we are certain at least one year Bandit 1200 cover fits because we've seen it with our own eyes.

So, the only issue now is what year engine did that cover come from.
Your question was will the '02 model work ? My response, find out from a Bandit 1200 expert if all year Bandit 1200 covers are interchangeable from year to year/same bolt pattern.
Sorry, I just have nothing fun to do at the moment beside pick my nose. Good night !

I can say this, the bandit 1200 is a bored out 1127 GSXR motor so, I'm pretty sure they are all the same. GSXR and the bandit cover.

Dude, what are you smokin tonight.... There's a ton of threads on case covers... and the bottom line is that they all have the same fitment but might require different length push rods to engage the clutch correctly.

I have a B12 swap katana in my garage with a Kat 600 sprocket cover on it.

So the question is really does OP want to stick with the hydro clutch or not.

Really ? I've seen people ask about swapping from hydo to a cable clutch and no one seems to know a thing about it. Maybe you should go back and answer some of your old theads then.

I guess we are all smokin around here.

Sure if you take a small enough sample size you'll find an unanswered question. If you keep looking you'll also find answers, specifically in the B12 swap threads.

Ok, that's what I was wondering 92xjunker,thanks for clearing that up, so as long as I can find a cover with the speed sensor in it, I am good.
                      Thanks again

If I were you I'd go ahead and do the cable clutch swap too. Look around the forums like Steves suggest to see if you can find something (update us too ) If you have to buy a new cover, do it right the 1st time. You'll be glad you did when your hydraulic clutch leaves you stranded/drags, or wears out your disc plates. You'll probably come out cheaper too, considering the cost of brake fluid, seals etc...

I don't see no reason to change from hydro to cable, what that looks like is unnecessary money and waste of good working components, besides I like my hydro clutch, and not the least bit worried about it leaving me on the the road, I have had cable let me down more than once, no biggi.

Just one last thing and I'll shut up.
If we were to rebuild the Kat1100 and bore it out, could it be so simple as just buying some used Bandit 1200 pistons and popping them in ?
