  • What the deal with 88-89 katana jet kits?

I notice all the time on ebay that there are tons of stage one ket kits for 88-89 katanas. What makes them so special? Is there something unique about the carbs on 88-89 models that distinguishes them from 90-up models or is this just another case of manufacturers mislabeling products? Anyone have any thoughs?

    Just curious

Not sure but how much are they? I need to rejet my bike and clean and sync the carbs again.

I saw them on ebay last night for 50 bones. I was kinda pissed cause I just bought one for 120 a couple of weeks ago. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

As far as I know, it's because they were a different carb size (the '88 & 89 use a Mikuni BST31SS, while 90+ uses BST33SS0. This may mean DynoJet/K&N built a bunch in '89 on the presumption that the line would continue to use the same carbs... or maybe the carbs are also used in something else (bandits? RF600?).

        Cheers

            you, as usual, are correct,
the 88-89 modesl used a 31mm carb, and the rest use a 33mm carb..

Umm didn't the 88 GSXR motor run the same 31 mm carbs in 89?
