Question about Speedo

Hello,
I have the 1998 katana 600. PO crashed the bike n damaged the front end. Speedo, Tacho, headlights all gone . I think about do naked style and I need Speedo to make it legal to ride n do paper work 600 on my bike. I understand that pre Katana run Speedo by cable. I found pre Katana have DRIVE WHEEL GEAR SPEEDO attach at front wheel. So the question is Can I use pre Katana speedo on Post Katana ?

It's a fairly simple set up. Just need the wheel gear, cable, speedo, and a way to mount it.
