I've taken a june bug right between the eye brows once. Yes, that does hurt. Also a bee right between the knuckles on my right hand and ran over a fairly large turtle. The was like hitting a rock and made a sickening crunching noise.

OUCH! I forgot about june bugs. It is amazing how loud the hit is and how much you feel the impact, and that is WITH a helmet. I think if I got hit between the ears it would smack my eyes so crossed I'd see the inside of my ears!
I remember catching them when I was a kid and tying a string around em. They would fly around and you just hold on to the other end.
