  • Chain install problems

Ok i have an 88 gsx1100f. I purchased an RK Chain and sprocket kit that came with 122 links, 15 tooth front and 52 tooth rear sprocket.
I have tried installing it believing i should not have to remove any links as the dealer told me it was exact fit for my bike. However the chain seems extremely loose. I have the bike on its center stand and have attempted to tighten the adjusting bolts to full tention and it still seems loose. I realized this after i had pressed on the link plate. I did not rivit it yet. If i need to remove links is it still possible to take the pressed plate off? and how without damaging it.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you have the adjusters all the way out, and the chain is still loose... it's too long.

But the bike should be on the SIDE stand, not the center stand. The chain tension will tighten up when the suspension is loaded.

Even with the bike on side stand i can tell it definatly needs links removed. The problem is i pressed the master link on already. Not rivited though. How can i remove the pressed plate without ruining it?

if u have the chain tool, line it up and push the link back out. I would use great care when pushing back out, maybe work on 1 side alittle, then do the otherside alittle. Good luck

You should be able to use the press plate to back it off.
