I spent $2k on it, and it's got about 10k miles on it. With gas prices going the way they are, it's going to take me about 1-2 years to recover the cost (assuming I don't wipe out, which is a BIG IF. It's nice to be able to go cruising now without spending $4.00+ every 15-20 minutes of operation. That and this is all the speed I'll ever need...
As you can probably tell, this is my first bike. I didn't get it to speed or race, although when I drive my car, I tend to have a heavy foot. This thing scares the hell out of me, and I'm VERY paranoid about other drivers (whether in a cage or riding, or even walking through a parking lot). My decision was purely economic, but I have to admit, the sheer joy of riding is a huge perk. Let me scratch that "purely" part out of the last sentence.
I'm very active in the cager forums, and this has become my new love and joy, thus I plan to spend a lot of time learning and contributing in this forum.
As a newb, I do have a quick question. I'm sure that some of you live in apartments and have carports. When you are blocked in by other cars, how do you park your bike? My buddy used to just nose in his 600, and lift/push the rear end until it was flush against the wall. I planned to do the same, but I forgot that this bike is a heavy mofo. Any tips? That parking job you see in the pics took 20 minutes to complete!
Thanks,
