  • So much more respect for my Katana

So. I had a 1984 Honda Sabre all last summer. Been trying to line up a buyer for quite some time now, and i might have. The bike has been in Dayton and I'm in Cincinnati (bout 45 minutes). Well i hadn't riden it in 6 or 7 months, but it was put away right so pull it out today, fired right up, Jackpot.

Riding to cincinnati. Well. I has no windscreen, no fairing, no wind protection. Period. Oh. God.

So much wind resistance. Usually it takes nothing to keep me up right and comfortable. Not this time. I was holding on for dear life to those handlebars as I rode. and the noise. OH the noise. The guy who had it before me put straight pipes on it. Deafening. I love my katana so much more now. So much comfort, so much throttle response, so much.... just... yeah. I'm going to pitch my sleeping bag next to her and spend the night outside to make up for riding another bike. She knows shes the only one for me, but I think she looked a little jealous tonight.....

I had a cruiser for a couple of years. Wife complained about my first Katana. Couldn't ride comfortably. I made due....but yeah.. man the wind, the noise, the aching back. But now I own a Katana again. Guess you can figure how that played out.

Wouldn't be the first time I slept beside my bike either Just make sure she knows it was necessary to ride the other bike, its nothing personal, and that no matter what there is no bike that can replace her in your life. Give her a hug & kiss goodnight and make sure you do the same in the morning. She needs to feel the love and know that you are sincere and...

Its ok to sleep beside of the Kat but once you start looking at the hole in the end of the tailpipe and it looks inviting try to restrain yourself.

                        at first- deny, deny, deny

if she insists... explain that it was only a ride...don't volunteer 'bout the lack of protection

just be sure to keep the lines of communication open

also an oil change and a nice chain lube would help the kat remember how special you are

                        good luck
