  • What grade fuel for Kat 600?

On an '06 Kat, what grade fuel should I use? The dealer didn't have any recommendations and I didn't see anything in the manual. I've been putting super in it and it goes like crazy, but then I put Plus in this last time and the bike ran smoother. It was like the difference between caffeine and no caffeine. The bike runs totally different.

What kind of gas do you run, and why? Thanks!

I use the lowest octane recommended by Suzuki. In the case of the Katana its 87 octane in North America. When I tried higher rated gasolines, I noticed no difference except I had a lighter wallet.

Just run 87 or 89 octane..you'll be just fine. Plus your wallet will thank you everytime you fill up. The reason I say 87 or 89 is because, around my area atleast, some gas stations dont have 87, just 89 as far as lower octane ratings go.

You can put in an occasional tank of higher octane now and then if you like, similar to what many do with their cars.

87 for the Kat, Ninja, and Bandit. 89 for the Aprilia.

No, should just run smoother. Click on that thread listed above and read about octane and how it works, what it does, and all that stuff.

I've been getting 7 mpg more out of 89 over 90+
I'm about to see what 87 is gonna do..
                    I think I'm looking at 42+MPG

I would say 87 I put in 89 every few cycles or so when I feel rich
