sorry for the long post but i am trying to liquidate my extra parts from my apartment and more preciesly my living room. Ok so if you read my previous post about the engine this first half will be a refresher. i bought my bike (88 katana 600) it was missing a few things. but the reason why it was being sold is that my friends friend worked on the engine rebuilt it. the summer prior the piston rings were replaced not by the same guy. this time the guy replace the clutch assembly with "a few differnt years kats". from inspection there is no problem with this. the guy ran it for "30" seconds and then turned it off left and came back tried to start again and it was seized. now i havent fully taken this apart yet but i found from what i have done that when the crank bolts are lossened on the stator side the crank will turn freely but when tightened to torque she stops dead no matter where she is at. now here is the other half where the poll comes in... i bought a parts bike from steve on here, the engine on that has a cracked engine mount, not in a critical place but still not good, it is cracked on the drivers side subframe mount. plus the engine sounds like it has gotten beat on so i dont know how much time i will have left on it. so here is my dilema do i sell off the spare engine and hope this one lasts or do i rebuild the spare and put the in and sell the one i have in the bike now. on a side note the engine in there now (the one from steve) does run. i have considered selling the spare off then if the engine i have now dies go to a 750 engine.
Carb question:
with the 88 one fuel line carb how much of it can be put into the two fuel line 89 one? the 88 has a crack in the throttle attachment part. i also noticied that the 88 has smaller intake then the 89. would it be worth holding onto or get some of my money back? the 89 carbs do work so i know that much.
