'89 600 front rim?

I've been looking for a front rim for a couple weeks now, and can't seem to find anything off ebay or the cycle salvage shops. The size is supposed to be 17x3.0", but the only thing I've come up with so far are gsxr rims that are 17x3.5". The bike shop told me that although he can make it fit, he wouldn't recommend it and suggested I try my best to get the right size. Are there any other front rims that will fit on this bike, and what are your opinions on fitting the gsxr rim on the kat?

i thought i saw a couple of pre98 fronts on ebay. i'll look for the links...

Is the gs500 front rim the same as the older kats?

yes it is 3.0 wide just used a diff rotor
