Default 1992 katana 600( WONT IDLE)

Hi I purchased my katana about a year ago, bought new carbs cuz the bodies of the old ones where badly damaged, I got eh bike running for a while and then moved, but now Iím working on the bike again and it will start for a second using startin fluid but wonít idle, Iíve also cleaned the new carbs besides of i of the bowls because I cont get the bolt off without stripping it, Iím pretty sure I have a vaccume leak because the bike makes a weird hissing noise when I try to start it, the gas tank also had a lot of rust but I removed it with some acid, please help any info would be great, Iím just a 17 yr old kid with little funds lol

The rust is the issue. Now your pilot jets are clogged. Pull the bowls off and service the carbs. Screws are cheap to replace. Needle nose vise grips work wonders on them. PS they are not exactly philips screws. They are JIS screws. Replace with Allen cap screws.

I tried to get the bowl off in many ways, vice grips different kind of pliers but nothing worked, itís really just the angle that the bolt is placed in the housing, the corner of the bolt is too close to the wall of the carb bowl, itís a real pain and i need it fixed badly bc itís my only transportation

2 of the carbs on the left side of the bike are leaking gas as well, when the petcock is set to res, gas drips out slowly, but when I turn it to the on position it pours out fast, I canít figure out where to put my vacuum line either, I pretty much just know the basics but the bike works better than when I got it at least

Your petcock needs a rebuild. Kits run about ~30. No fuel should be going through it when in res or on unless there is vacum applied. The vacum line for the petcock connects to the throttle side carb (#4) where the other carbs have little caps over that nipple.
