Windyou know you can use jack stands on the front part of the frame where it comes down by the oil cooler. The bike will set there and should be stable enough for you to do what you need to. Micdalen did this on his bike and mine when we put in new steering head bearings.

Put some eye bolts rated to hold an overhead load of 600 lbs into the main beams, then ratchet strap away.
Take a look at this... http://www.katriders.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=28259
Which is how I changed my tires.
Jack stands on the frame should be "more than stable enough" to hold the bike up.-Steve

Hell , what's wrong with getting some stout rope , hanging it from the decks bottom boards , and tying that bitch up . I'd do it . Centerstand , fairings off , rope under the "neck" , and take that front end apart . I've done it under worse conditions (centerstand and 4x4 wedged under oil pan) .
