Does anyone know if I can spray urethane Clear coat, (Nason out of a spray gun), over a rattle can urethane? The reason being I only have a few small pieces to paint that I can cover easily with a can instead of $35-45$ for a pint. Thanks in advance! Oh please specify enamel or laquer if one or the is will work.

I am not sure that I understand the question. You have some pieces that you have rattle can clear on and you want to re clear them with a 2 part urethane? (I think I have that part) but I don't understand the rest.

if you're asking 'can i use rattle can paint and spray gun clear?' yes you can, just make sure the paint is COMPLETELY dry before spraying the clear, otherwise the paint may wrinkle (happened to me) second time i let it dry for 3 days then cleared and it looked AMAZING, very shiny with lots of little bugs in it

For best results, use paint from the same system or family.

I thought on most urethane, you were supposed to spray the clear while the base was still tacky, but flashed for at least 20 minutes to an hour.

Well the guy at the paint store told me it should work. I used acrylic enamel engine paint and waited the 10 minutes for it to flash, then put on about 3 coats of Nason clear coat. So far so good. I expected some reaction but nothing but shine now. He said the secret is not to let it dry too much so there is still some adhesion properties but not too wet obviously. Here is some pics, the rear grab bar look AMAZING it isn't buffed just drying, has 4 good coats on it.

If you are using Nason clear, you obviously have a store that sells DuPont. Do they not have the necessary equipment to do SprayBase yet? The Nason clear is the best value in commercial clears out there right now, IMO.

Apparently not or I would of hoped they recommended that instead of the engine enamel. So far no reacting and looks good.
