Hello people of katriders! I am thrilled to announce that I will be the owner of a 1992 Katana 600 at 16k miles, coming Saturday (technically now as I have the title). I ended up cleaning my buddies terribly messy apartment in exchange for a discount on his bike that he was toying with selling. Ended up settling on $450 for the bike plus the few hours of cleaning and a trip to the local bar for steak night and a few cold ones.
Anyways I'm very excited about this new project and I have prepared a nice large hole in my wallet as a result of research and readings of restoration items for the bike. This will be my first bike/project bike and I cant wait to get wrenching on it.
Onto the known issues...Will repaint once I get her running well. Carbs were recently cleaned (last year and it sat for this past year) but not synced so she runs a bit rough in the mid rpm range, hoping its just jets. As for the bike sitting for a while, I will be checking out the fuel tank for rust and recoating it either way. Carbs will be coming off and cleaned/sync'd. Needs new tires, brake overhaul (don't know the brake/fluid condition but I want to ensure the bike can not only 'go' but 'stop' as well) and eventually a paint job and new suspension at least in the back for now. Spark plugs, wires and some new fuel lines, we should be good to go if all works out.
Wish me luck on this new adventure! If anyone has any tips, tricks, suggestions, comments, weird katana quirks, things to look for. Please feel FREE to help me out in any way possible as this is my first dive into the bike world coming from the offroad world.
Not sure if this image works but I'll try to include a link as well, new to the forums not exactly sure of the image process.

EDIT: The red wheels are absolutely going to be repainted as I cannot stand them.
