    1st of all .............loving the site, so much info / knowledge

    .........But, I've not yet quite got my head around the terms of

    " pre " and " post " ..........seems to stem around the 98 model ?



    Can someone please give me a breakdown / insight on this

    yeah, the pre 98 models and the 98+ is when the fairings changed along with a bunch of other stuff

    so 1988 a breed all it's own
    1989- 1997 pre kat
    1998- 2006 post kat
    at least for the 600's and 750's, i don't know much about the 1100's
    Need those hard to find crush washers for the bottom end of your forks? PM me, i've got plenty

      Pre 88-97 and Post 98-06.

        The distinction is because in there was a complete and radical redesign.

        This is a "pre" 600...



        and this is a "post"



        There are some interchangeable parts, but for the most part they are separate beasts.

          Suzuki kept the Katanas pretty much the same throughout but some changes were made.
          Off the top of my head:
          88
          600 and 1100 Kats produced.
          Both were significantly different from anything previously labeled a Katana.
          89
          750 Katana introduced. Most parts were the same as the 600.
          600 got new carbs and wheels.
          93
          Last year for the 1100 in the US.
          98
          600 and 750 revamped with major changes.
          2004
          New front wheels
          2006
          Last year of production

          The 1100s didn't change significantly at all through the entire production run. the only change I can think of is that it got a better shock and (slightly) stiffer forks in 89.
