  • 89-97 rear shock

Does anyone have any ideas about the rear shock on a 600 90 kat or where I can get one and what fits? Anytime I hammer down on the gas I feel like my butt is dragging and the front of the bike is coming up.
My fork seal are garbage and they are being replaced this weekend, but I dont think they would be causing all of the problem.
    Whats your thoughts

I'm putting a Bandit 1200 shock on mine soon, and I'll let you know how it feels as I do have 2 extra.

Sounds good. If it works out and rides good, would you want to get rid of one of them?

I use a Bandit shock on mine. It raises the tail up considerably (at least 2 inches if not more) so if you are having a tip toe problem it will not help at all. It has a heavier spring rate that the stock shock also, so if you are on the heavier side it may help you a bit. I am not heavy (170 lbs before gear) but I tend to like a stiffer set up for the rear and overlook the harsh ride. You can dial the pre load down which will help.

Basically, it is an inexpensive method of creating a faster turn in rate while also increase you rigitity of the ride. If you do two up riding it helps support the extra weight also.

Will the bandit shock bolt into the 98+ Kats? And do you know if it will raise the rear at all on them as well?

Yes it will raise it but it doesn't give you the full adjustment like the Gixxer or RF shock.
