  • My new Oval Scorpion Exhaust... WOW!!!!!

    Oh My God !!!!!!
What a difference... Sunday I took an 11 hour ride with my Sport Bike Alliance group, down to ride the "Dragon Like" WV Route 250. My group even thought my Kat was hot, after the huge growl it let out... WOW. She is a totally different animal now. So DEEP and Throaty the growl. It is awesome. I got so many compliments on the Kat, I don't even remember all of them. People just driving by on the highway, on the sidewalks, gas stations, red lights, and my group. I didn't even bring my MP3 on this one, glad I didn't.

I completely am satisfied with the Scorpion and HIGHLY suggest it to anyone.

    The Scorpion...

How long did the installation took; and was there any difficulties?

I have a two bros exhaust but it came with bike with all the good things that I been hearing about the scorpion exhaust with its low price and deep growl I most likely would have added it to my bike

Well... To tell the truth, the easiest part was getting it out of the box.

The OEM pipe came off simple enough. It had some kind of wire mesh thing inside the header. I figured it was like a gasket of some sort, so I tried to put the Scorpion mid-pipe into it. That would not fit. So I removed the wire mesh thing from the header and attempted to fit it to the mid-pipe. No Go. So I said F**k it, and shoved the mid-pipe in the header with no gasket. It fit fine but loose as all hell.

At this point I tried to assemble the mid-pipe and the Scorpion. That was most impossible. The hole was made in a way that the clamp would not connect as it was. It had some extra metal piece that just got in the way. and would not let the screw connect to the other side. I ripped it off with pliers. Pipe would not fit into the Scorpion, so I got the pipe wrench out and protected from the teeth, squeezed a little on each side of the Scorpion until I could fit the engaged clamp onto it. Got that on, now to the mid-pipe again. Now the hole is way too small, so I Get the pliers and pull the flanges out on each side a bit. It's in...

So I take it back apart and apply the Red RTV to the inside of the Scorpion and put it back together again, so damn tight. Now I can tighten the clamp. Yeah!!! Scorpion now has a mid-pipe attached.

Now I just shove the fricken end into the fricken header, and let it dangle there awhile, I need a drink. Then I tried attaching the main exhaust bracket to the foot peg in many different ways. I settled on the one that kept it close to the bike, but away from the swing arm. That part was easy.

Now it is hanging there or dangling loosely. Really loose fit was made up by squirting lots of the High Temp RTV RED Gasket maker into the crevice around the pipe and the header. Started up for a leak check, and had a few at the mid-pipe Scorpion connection but none at the header where I thought I would. Filled them with the RTV and that did the trick. Not one leak anymore.

After the 24 hour cure time, it held the pipe real snug. It held up on my 11 hour ride just fine. Still NO leaks. Sounds like FIRE...

Thank GOD!!! Cause if this thing sucked after all of that... Well I'm sooo glad that it didn't. I love it. Oh yeah, I got this one from Parts411.com. Well worth the aggravation.

Oh yeah... I forgot to say that I was working on it from about 1PM until 5PM.
          4 HOURS... Sheese.

Hey no prob PR. I'm just going to give you a call when I go riding by myself towards Johnstown. You would have loved the 11 hours me and Rebecca went through on that WV 250 ride. That beast is "Dragon Like." All the way into Hundred WV. 40 miles of endless cliffside hairpins and sweepers and switchbacks.

Awesome. I feel really embarrased that I didn't make the Fallen Marines run, though. I'm gonna head to Altoona today, to visit a buddy. Seems like it should be a nice day to ride, anyway.

Watch out for the Thunder storms...
I am going to be meeting up with KatRider Cheriff sometime up at the Altoona Mall.
I'll see if you want to join us for the ride over there. That is when I figure out when.
It is less than an hour ride from Blairsville on 22.

Oh, and did you find CHutch yet?
He is both a KR and SBAP member from Johnstown also.

Hey Jax, is the Scorpion really loud under norm accel or just when you get really on it? My wife has a ZZR 600 now and the exhaust note it has stock is awesome. Looking to get a similar sound on my Kat without being too loud. Kinda worried about the install though .. is that typical of slip-on installation or just that particular pipe?

It has a nice growl from the start. Accel is great, faster too.
Real loud growl when in high gear with low RPMs.
All around great sound. I don't need my MP3 anymore.

As for the install, I had no idea what I was doing at all, and it was a great success. I don't think I did it right, but it works.
There might be an adapter between the header and the mid-pipe that I did not feel like waiting for.

I'm looking into getting the scorpion - oval 1811-0675 - but the different sites that I've looked into show this picture http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/pa...rs-suzuki.html however, I'm not sure if that's the picture for teh GSXR or if will fit my '03 Katana as well. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

                              I got mine from Parts411.com : http://www.parts411.com/acbasp/store...7922C6134.aspx
This one is made for the Kat from 1998-2006. The Oval number is 1811-0675-PU.
So it could be the right pipe.
