  • Under the signal generator cover

My 98 750 katana wont start it cranks but no spark. I did some tests on the coils and came back within specs. Then I tested the signal generator. When I pulled of the cover there was oil in there.

I this common or is there a seal in there? Maybe the crank shaft seal? And would This oil cause the generator to not work properly?

Where exactly does the oil come from?

Is there oil under the covers of new bikes as well?

If you look you can see the hole going back to the rest of the engine in there .
Test the wires coming from the cdi to the coils . MAYBE you can borrow a CDI and see if that'll do it ....

They are both the same. some used part 9-a some part 9-b. The part is the same. One usually supercedes to the other one.

Will the part be stamped or marked with an a or b?

No, it will not be. But either part will work for your purposes.
