  • has anyone modified a post kat swing arm to accept a gsxr rear wheel?

i know i know before i start in the last year i have been on this site i have seen every few days a post about "putting a gsxr rear wheel on my kat" and threw it all the only thing i have seen that seems to be a real success was Kreylyn and his pre kat modified rear swing arm (which came out amazing btw good job ) but since then i have seen here and there people attempting or even Kreylyn himself selling his modded rear swing arm but i have yet to see someone do the same to a post kat rear swing arm. so i know where this may go but im just wondering. i know for atleast me fitting the 5.5 rear rim onto my kat has always just been something i have wanted to do but never spent the time and money to see it threw. thanks again guys.

    Thanks for the kind words...

Yeah, it's possible to do. I've not done one yet (I don't have a post Kat to mock it up on atm). I've seen one done before, wasn't much different than doing it for the pre that I could tell. That person used a curved spoke GSXR (like you would for a pre for some reason)...

I know a couple of people with a post Kat... I'll look into what would be needed to pull it off...

I can't imagine it would be too direct. A 6" wheel is a pretty big step up.

Ed search his name on the members lists and start going through his posts its in there some where. I know he sold the bike but I would pm him about it. I just remember a little more then a year ago his bike was in one of sport bike mags and he posted up on here about how he was able to run a 190.

I think he had a gsxr swingarm. Looks that way from his pics anyway... Disappointing considering I have 2 black wheels w/ tires sitting in my garage and I cant even use them.

Yeah I was wrong, I went and looked at his posts and he swapped the swingarm with a gsxr1100 to use the busa rear wheel. So to use those wheels Ed all you need is a complete set of forks and swingarm apparently and some fabbing which I know someone who is capable of that

Here's the link Ed and OP http://katriders.com/vb/showthread.php?t=64011
