I was wondering on the carbs the little rod that the choke hooks to does it need to be all the way in for the choke to be off or a little bit pulled out Because I un hooked the choke cable today and it's still runnin really high rpms

The choke should be all the way to the right if you are looking straight down on them as if you are sitting on the bike. When the choke is engaged the slide would be to the left as if you are sitting on the bike.

Have you adjusted your idle screw on the left side of the bike It looks like a little gear on top and is right behind the frame where it comes down and meets at the back. You turn this to get the idle adjustment right.

+1 on checking the idle screw. the choke (actually a fuel bypass i think, rather than an air "choke") should bottom out on the gasket the bar (rather than the actuator clipped to it) goes into. all the way, i believe

is the idle staying steady, just at a higher RPM?
