    Yes its safe. You would have to create a ton of heat with the machine to damage the plastic. DA polishers are designed to dissipate heat better than a standard rotary polisher. The little Griots machine is fairly under powered anyway, so its about as safe as it gets for someone new to machine polishing. As long as the paint on your bike is of good quality and not some $5.00 rattle can job (nothing wrong with that if that's what your into), then you should see some good results from it.

      I recommend giving Plexus a try! you just spray it on and wipe it off, and it leaves a smooth slick finish like wax. Also it repels water like wax. It claims to seal plastic and protect it too. Great for helmets and visors!

        If you look in the Manual it actually says to wax after washing to protect the paint. I use meguiars gold class automotive wax. They have a whole line of products. From plastic cleaners to rubber polish and car wax. Just avoid tires and seat and you'll be okay.
