  • '95 CA kat 750 mikuni 115 throttle plates

Seems I might have mangled mine and my '95 katana 750 is idling at 3000 rpm. The butterflies won't close past the first carb body orifice (bench sync spot) but look like they used to close past there. Anyone know where I can get these plates? I read a GXR forum post one guy saying he could get the 115 plates but needed the 120 plates for his GXR with BST36SS. My BST36SS have the mikuni 115 plates but I also read that the # is the bevel angle.. that don't really make sense with all the bore sizes tho but can anyone verify the throttle plate stamping for pre-kat 750's (BST36SS).. same as California? Do these plates cross over to any other carbs??

otherwise, anyone know a good procedure for centering the throttle plates? I tried loose plate screws snapping the throttle shut with the sync screws loose, and also tried it after a bench sync at the first hole.. Either way, she won't close past the first hole. and with it bench synced, there is an audible snap on opening the throttle as if the plates are binding in there a bit..

I could build you an awesome set of pre 98 750 carbs. You seem to think it makes a difference that it's a CA model. It doesn't. I have a good majority of the parts to build a complete set. I just need the #3 carb body. If you want to send me your current set and have me turn them into awesome, I can do that.

      CA carbs

Nah, I'm not in love with California anything. what a ridiculous design with that carb cooling fan? and the funky crap putting fresh air in the exhaust? otherwise no all I found on the CA carb was the smaller PAJ and the jet needle..

This 3000 rpm idle with puddles has to be something glaring and I would like to kick it's ass.. I'm waiting for the rubber pilot jet plugs (mine seemed OK but hey). and if that don't do it' I'm thinking it must be the choke plungers leaking.. They were all seized in (I think galvanic corrosion) and I had to hammer some out and I cleaned up the plunger needles but bent at least one plunger needle and maybe the same one shaft got bent. they all actuate open and closed now but Kreylyn says those plunger pins are tight fit to carb bodies.

I'm looking for a spare set of carbs now because the plungers are hard to come by. Any tips for buying used carbs? I put a post up here somewhere asking about alternate carbs that would bolt on and I didn't get much love.. I did my own research and found:
      '89-'96 GSX750F & 600F
      ?'88 - '92 GSX-R750 & 1100
      ?? '91-93 GSX1100 (is this a cool bike?)
      ?? '97-'2000 GSF1200 Bandit

But then when I did used on for the choke actuator slide thing, it was only found on the pre kat 600 & 750's and the '91 & 92 GSX-R1100.

And the pre kat 750 choke plunger is only used on the pre-kat 750's (seems to contradict above with the pre kat 600 using the same choke actuator and having same carb body.. But then again, the pre-kat 750 sling shot piston valve didn't show used on the pre-kat 600 nor did the pre kat 750 carb float assy. Are the Suzuki used on's accurate?

        junk yard carbs

I bought a set of carbs and cobbled them together and runs real nice now. I did notice that my CA carbs had the 115 throttle plates but the non CA junkyard carbs had 120 plates but of course I'm sure that is/was not the issue

and the new rubber pilot jet plugs didn't help even though my old ones were kinda loose.
