i need a signal generator

hello all. the season is coming and im gettin fixed up to ride. Only thing i need now is a signal generator that works so can i put a pre 98 sig gen on a 98 kat and if so how much trouble would it be to rewire.
i dont have 3-$400 bones to pay ron ayers price. If anyone has one for under 250 im interested thanks to all.
