  • Over Priced Kat imo

In ancient Japan, the Katana was known as the samurai sword. Smaller than the long broadswords of the day, the Katana changed the art of Japanese warfare; quick to draw, the lighter blade could st…

It does seem a bit optimistic on the price side. I have had my 1100 Kat from new since '83 and ride it regularly (two or three times a week). There is no substitute for longevity than regular use. Being in storage for so long opens a host of problems to get it back to reliable use

It did not sell. The bike was purchased for $3,750.00 (plus 10% buyers fee) at the Mecum Las Vegas auction two weeks ago. I guess the buyer thought he was getting a "cash cow" and could flip it on Ebay for better than twice his money.... the bike is not complete, has alot of bits that are wrong to command top dollar like $9,000.00. Maybe he will find a Japanese buyer to take it off his hands. As a side note, I thought that $3,750.00 for the bike at Mecum was a good price, low enough to restore it back to original and then have something worth, say $9,000.00....
A 1980 GS1000ST (Wes Cooley replica) went for $5,000.00 at the Mecum auction, also. Another good deal, if you ask me, that bike is not 100%, either, but alot closer than the Kat was. Prices were all over the place at that auction, fun to watch.

Agree with you guys....worst thing you can do to your bike is ride it and not ride it

The Wes Cooley and this Kat were both good deals... I just love restoring bikes like that.

Ride it, the only reason to have one...
