high beam only?

I have HID's installed right now, and before the bashing commences they do have the "shield" (not sure on the term) installed on each bulb so they do not blind oncoming traffic in the reflector housing. I'm looking to beef up the high beam though, I'm thinking of getting a Silverstar or something similar for one side and leaving HID on the other side. Is it possible to have the Silverstar off with lows and on only with highs? Also would there be any significance of keeping the high on either the left or right side? Post 750

I wouldn't go with an aftermarket halogen if I already had HIDs installed. Halogens really don't compare imho. If anything, I would look into hi/lo HIDs instead.
