The only product that Suzuki ever made that was officially called a "Katana" was actually a pathetic little scooter (skateboard + bicycle parts + weedeater engine). The name Katana was simply a sticker placed on GSX-F motorcycles designed for import into the US.

During the latter production years (1998-2006) the GSX-F only came in 2 engine sizes - a 600 and a 750. The GSX-F (aka "Katana") was only produced through '06. Nothing in '07. Then the line was re-introduced in 2008, although the "Katana" moniker was not used. These bikes are Suzuki's "sport-touring" model. They now came with a liquid-cooled engine and styling modeled after the GSX-R. They came in 2 engine sizes, a 500 and a 650.

So to answer the question, there *is* a 650-sized GSX-F, available only after 2008 & up, but it's not a Katana.

sorry, but that info is incorrect. in the early 80's there was the 1100, 1000, 750, 650 and 550 models. there is a 250 that was sometimes referred to as a katana, but it is a GF model and is actually closer to the Gamma. these were all officially called Katanas (except the 250), created and designed by the 3 man team for Target Design (Hans Muth, Jan Fellstrom and Hans-Georg Kasten). The REAL Katana was produced up until 1986....with a special edition 1100 made in 87 (it was red and silver). they were all GSX-S models, and indeed 100% certified Katanas.

The Katana name was rekindled, primarily in the North American market, for the revised GSX-F series from the end of the 1980s through to 2006. The GSX-F range comprised five basic models split into two general eras: the 1988–1997 GSX600F and GSX750F, the 1988–1993 GSX1100F, followed by the 1998–2006 GSX600F and GSX750F, both of which were heavily restyled for the 1998 model year.
