  • Shift Lever Broken Off. How shall I Mend It?

During some rough use I unfortunately broke the shift lever off. The piece that the lever is mounted on severed right around the lever fulcrum. Is this a piece that can be repaired with a quick welding job? I am new to my bike, and am unsure what material the broken piece is made out of. Will I need to replace this plate?

do you have a magnet? If a magnet sticks to it then it can probably be welded. It looks like aluminum though. as an engineer, I'm not a fan of aluminum welding as the aluminum is annealed (weakened to it's natural state) in the process.

Get a new or used cover. If you go the new route give me a shout and I will get you one at my cost. I always help out KR members by offering stock parts at my cost. That way it can save you money in the long run. However I do suggest looking on ebay for a used one as it should be cheaper.
