Thanks for the props everyone. My fingers are maimed but the end result was well worth it. I used JB Weld "Kwik Weld" by the way. The stuff is super easy to work with and sets up very, very hard. Also, it withstands up to 300 degrees. I figured that's plenty, since the plastic it's mounted to would probably melt if it got that hot.Trust me, I'm a doctor!

So what was the difficulty level for the job? Could someone with ZERO inclination to all things mechanical (hey I don't need to be able to build them to ride them ) be able to do it without harm to the bike or myself?"Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly"

It's a very easy mod to do. The materials cost me less than $20. Got the mesh and JB Weld at Lowe's. The hardest part is cutting and bending the metal to shape. After that, it's just a matter of putting a few drops of JB Weld around the edges to hold it. I did the whole project in a couple of days after work (probably 3 hrs. total time)Trust me, I'm a doctor!
