  • Anybody paint their own helmet?

OK, so mine was plain white. New helmet? Not now.
So I decided just paint the one I have.
Kinda rushed into the design, but I wanted the helmet to match my jacket.
I would have gone more punk if I'd thought about it.

Painted the bike not the helmet. Yours looks good.Your bike must be yellow
or black. Any Pics you can post?

Thanks. I done feel so much a dork now.
Just took this a day ago. It's dark grey, the sky is tinting it blue.

Personally I do not believe I would do this, I would be concerned as to what the chemicals in the paint might do to the integrity of the helmet, but then again I have become kind of paranoid with my gear like that.
I will say you did a great gob and it looks great, but what is the black tape on the visor for?

Well this helmet is made of fiberglass, so the paint has no effect.
The black tape blocks the sun in the corners from glaring out the glass.
I had it across the top too, but discovered on the track I really need to look up that steep.

                    Thanks!
I used Dupli-color over fiberglass with just a scuffing with 220 paper.
Did a wee bit more, I wanted a rusty look, used red primer.
No clear coat, because they don't sell a flat clear coat.
I wanted a raw look, not factory finish.
                    Present look:

I only wear this hat for track days, no it would not hold up for everyday riding.
If I wanted something durable I would use pro automotive paint and clear coat.
Or at least a rattle can clear coat.
I should try another brand that has a satin or flat clear.
Oh, I painted another helmet too, I put a bubble mask on that one.
It's my sunny day street helmet, but likewise I don't care if it gets scuffed.
