    why are there numbers on dial attached to the hand break 1-4?

    It puts the lever closer or further away from the handle grip.For short or long hands I guess.

        It's in the manual too. . . Pretty much right - just provides a certain amount of adjustability to the lever.

          To change the setting, push the lever forward from it's normal position, rotate the dial to the next number, and release it back to it's normal postion.

            Most times you never have to mess with dial. Once its set, you're pretty much good to go.
